title: The biggest election-night story for tech investors might be in Texas.
description: "A Democrat won the governorship for the first time in decades. Republicans still control both chambers of the state legislature.\n\nWhy does that matter for the Nasdaq?\n\nTexas is expected to host 25% of the data centers coming online through 2030. \n\nOn September 21, Republican Governor Greg Abbott put a moratorium on data center construction. The expectation was that Abbott would win and lift it. \n\nNow investors have to weigh the possibility that the pause lasts longer.\n\nThe Nasdaq 100 is down more than 2%.\n\nHow much of the AI buildout depends on Texas getting back to building?\n\nSource. Bloomberg, Bianco research"
