Tool: EU alliance for AI

The governments of Germany, France, and Poland are joining forces to push for EU-wide cooperation towards a common strategy for AI made in Europe. Germany, France, and Poland argue that closer cooperation among member states will be necessary for the EU to catch up to the US and China in the development of AI systems that not only innovate the European economy but also have a strong foundation in democratic ideals and EU regulations. With very few notable contributions to search engines, social media, and other online shopping and entertainment platforms, the EU had a minor influence in the internet industry. AI could be the EU IT sector's second chance. "Now that we have a second opportunity, let's take the wheel and drive instead of being driven," Stark-Watzinger remarked (Federal Minister of Education and Science of Germany).
